Fake Security Software Booted Off 400,000 PCs

Microsoft claims December’s version of the Malicious Software Removal Tool has booted one of the most popular phony security apps from almost 400,000 PCs, reports InfoWorld.

MSRT, which Microsoft pushes to Windows users as part of Patch Tuesday, erased Antivirus 2009 from over 394,000 PCs in the first nine days after it released on Dec. 9.
