Description :

We are Germany based company looking for experienced service provider to develop an application to control projector via RS232. We want an application so video projectors can be controlled remotely with an serial (RS232) connection between the projector and a computer. This remote control should include always an “on / off” –functionally and a number of other possibilities in respect to the device (like focus control, lamp hour reading, keystone…).

We want to integrate this functionality in our desktop-based c++ Microsoft windows application. A large number of projectors should be supported, reading the serial codes / settings out of a XML-database. This database should be open for future additions.

We want service provider to develop the application in below steps.

A) Implement a MS Windows compatible c++ routine for the communication over the serial (RS 232) line between computer and video projectors. Be aware of different serial (RS232) communication methods and of checksum control. Provide us with the code as a fully compiling MS Visual Studio project and the full rights to reuse it. Also include documentation. Do not use any library that has to be licensed commercially without asking
B) Build a matching XML –Database construct to read the needed data for different projectors(Name, model, serial commands, serial communication, possible functions)Provide an interface to choose the projector model by a drop-box.Implement the following functionality:- Turn on- Turn off- Choose input source (if available)- Read lamp hour (if available)Provide us with documentation.
C) Research several projector serial codes, checksum methos and serial communication standards (Baud rate, Bit…) for the following brands and integrate them into the database

Indian software industry will hold out against competition

NEW DELHI: The $60-billion information technology industry in India will continue to attract overseas business, despite competition from other emerging markets that also offer lower costs, says the India head of global software giant Computer Associates.

"Our costs will still be competitive. There are markets like China, Singapore, and the Philippines which offer lower costs. But they are not in the same league as India," said the software gian't India chairman Saurabh Srivastava.

"China has an issue with language, a lot of other countries don't have the same levels of competency and, moreover, a lot of them are still in process of learning business norms," Srivastava, an industry veteran and noted venture capitalist, told IANS in an interview.

According to him, the average spending on information technology
by a fair-sized firm was usually two percent of the entire budget. "You will not risk saving on this two percent and endangering the rest of the 98 percent."

Though the sector, which has been hit by the global financial crisis, will grow at a modest 4-7 percent this year, Srivastava contended a turnaround should happen by next year when companies start loosening their purse strings.

"You may not see the 30 percent growth rates of the past. But for the next few years, the growth certainly would be in the range of 15-20 percent," said the alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Kanpur and Harvard University.

Co-founder of such companies as software major IIS Infotech and venture capital fund Infinity Ventures, Srivastava is not quite perturbed by the slowdown in the business. In fact, he is optimistic about the trajectory of the Indian IT growth story.

GE Aircraft Engines to outsource software from India

BANGALORE: Acknowledging India's prowess in information technology, GE Aircraft Engines has said it intended to develop software for digital electronic control systems for helicopter engines in this country as part of its long-term strategy.

The company's regional vice-president, T700 Sales, Asia-Pacific, Peter Gianonatti, told PTI here that India was known for its expertise in software and software development and GE's vision was to have software for such systems to be outsourced to India.

Gianonatti also revealed that his company was currently engaged in talks with Bangalore-headquartered Hindustan Aeronautics Limited on co-development and co-production of helicopter engines.

India was a much larger market than countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Korea and Japan, he said. "That's all the reason why we would like to be a significant contributor to this market and supplier of engines".

"Because of trade sanctions, we have not been here,” Gianonatti pointed out, adding, the company was currently engaged in studying the market in India to understand utility and attack helicopter needs in terms of engines that GE could supply.

Trying to make a hard-sell for T700 engines, he said 4,000 of them have already been sold to US military and militaries of other countries.
